WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — It’s a picture that’s hard to forget.

Baby Adilynn Renee was born premature.

She weighed less than a pound and was about the size of a cellphone.

“I never imagined her to be that small, it took me by surprise,” Chelsea Gregory, Adilynn’s mom, told WGHP.“It really scared me. I was like, how is she going to make it?”

Adilynn is now 4 months old. She weighs 4 pounds, but the little girl is in serious trouble. Last month, Adilynn was moved from Forsyth Medical Center to Brenner Children’s Hospital. She’s had pneumonia twice and a blood infection.

“Its making her heart work extra hard, her heart is trying to give out on her so they are having to give her medicine for it. Tons of medicines,” Gregory said.

Adilynn is on life support.

“Every little step that she makes is a huge accomplishment,” Gregory said. “Even turning her oxygen down 1 percent. I’m just blessed with it. I’ll take it.”

Gregory is asking for help from anyone and everyone.

“It means more than the world to us because right now we are in desperate need of prayers,” Gregory said. “Honestly, there’s nothing more in this world that means more than just one person praying.”

Faith has gotten this family this far and this mom is going to continue to trust in the power of prayer.

“I know shes fought so hard for her mommy and daddy and we are gonna fight for her.”

Adilynn was one of the smallest babies ever born at Forsyth Medical Center.
