The Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday is happening this weekend, according to the Virginia Department of Taxation.
The Energy Star and WaterSense Sales Tax Holiday for 2014 is scheduled to begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, and to end at midnight on Monday, Oct. 13.
The following items will be exempt from the retail sales and use tax:
Any dishwasher, clothes washer, air conditioner, ceiling fan, compact fluorescent light bulb, dehumidifier, or refrigerator that satisfies the following requirements:
•Has been designated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Department of Energy as meeting or exceeding each such agency’s requirements under the Energy Star program;
•Has a selling price of $2,500 or less per item; and
•Is purchased for noncommercial or personal use
