The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Eastern North Carolina through Wednesday evening.

A deep moist flow will combine with an inland moving trough of low pressure to produce periods of heavy rain, especially near coastal sections tonight and through Wednesday evening.

3 to 4 inches of rain can be expected in the watch area with some higher amounts possible.

Areas that have recently received heavier rain will be especially vulnerable to flooding. Areas under the watch include parts of the Outer Banks, and Dare, Hyde and Beaufort counties.

There is a likelihood of ponding of water on roadways and possible road closures through Wednesday.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action.
