Gloucester man arrested on Arizona murder charge

Gloucester County, Va. – A local man has been arrested in connection with a murder charge in Arizona, according to officials with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.

On August 27, 2014 at about 6:00 a.m., members of the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Special Operations Unit arrested 27-year-old Nicholas John Romeo.

Romeo, who lived in the Gloucester Point area of the county, was arrested for being a Fugitive from Justice relating to a Murder charge in Arizona, according to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.

Romeo is currently being held in the Gloucester County Jail, awaiting extradition to Arizona.

Federal Agents with the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) Norfolk and Tucson Offices, as well as Homicide Detectives from the Tucson Police Department, were on scene to assist the Sheriff’s Office with the arrest of Romeo, NewsChannel 3 has learned.
