Suffolk Police investigating after shots fired at officer in patrol car

Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk Police are still investigating after someone fired three shots at an officer in a patrol car on Sunday night.

According to police, an officer had been dispatched to the intersection of Freeney Avenue and S. 11th Street in reference to shots fired.

As the officer was driving by with her driver’s side window down, she observed approximately five black males standing on the left side of the road who yelled at her when she drove by.

As she looked in the rear view mirror, she spotted one of the subjects fire three shots with visible muzzle flashes. The officer also said she felt the rounds pass by her driver’s side window.

The officer was not injured.

She turned her vehicle around and observed the males running from the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
