The Old Dominion University Dynasty Dance Team and the Monarch Cheerleaders took home big honors from a national dance and cheer competition.
More than 40 teams competed.
The spirit squads received a silver and bronze bid, making them automatic qualifiers to compete for a national championship in the spring.
“It was awesome. It was such a great experience and we are very thankful to come away with the bronze bid.”
“Honestly, it was the best feeling in the world. I loved it,” said Junior Diamond Hunt.
“I was very excited. I was shocked and shocking is good. It was nothing but exciting. We went in there first year competing. We didn’t expect to come out with anything, so to get a silver bid was really exciting.”
The cheer squad won superior ribbons for their game day routine, in addition to being named the most improved squad.
