Norfolk, Va.- The annual Honey Bee Festival took place Saturday and was put on by the Beekeepers Guild of Southeast Virginia.
People sampled honey and learned how to raise bees and purchase plants for their "bee friendly" gardens. There was also a working bee hive set up for people to see.
The Virginia Department of Agriculture says that honey bee colonies in Virginia are continuing to die off at a fast rate, but this year's loss wasn't as much as last's.
A survey released last month showed that about 33% of managed colonies died over the winter, compared to about 45% the winter before that.
