Norfolk, VA. – A 30-year-old sailor accused of killing a 50-year-old pedestrian at the Oceanfront while driving drunk back May has been arrested again on drug charges.

Norfolk Police say Peter Olin Teneyck was picked up on Tuesday in the 8400 block of Hampton Boulevard and charged with one count of Attempting to Acquire a Schedule II Drug.

Teneyck was out of jail on bond  under strict conditions after he was accused of hitting and killing 50-year old Jim Miller Jr. back in May. Court documents say he told police he was already drunk and on the way to get more beer when the crash happened. His blood alcohol level was .25.

As a part of his bond, Teneyck was ordered to leave jail and be in the custody of the military, living on base at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He could only leave the base for necessary medical care or to meet with his attorney and could only be transported by the military, his mother, father or sister. He was ordered not to use any alcohol or illegal drugs and was being monitored via SCRAM device.

The Navy says Teneyck serves as a quarter master second class at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, but is on long-term limited duty while undergoing medical treatment for lung cancer. He received a double lung transplant in April.

Teneyck had returned to court and asked if his bond could be modified so he could ride his bike to and from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Portsmouth Naval Medical Center.

The Commonwealth Attorney objected but a judge granted the revision. Then just 11 days later, Teneyck was in handcuffs again for this latest drug charge.

The Commonwealth Attorney’s office is now moving to revoke his bond. He will be held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond until his court date next week.
