A 25-year-old former Navy sailor pleaded guilty Thursday to traveling across state lines to enable underage prostitution, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Jeffrey Chadwick Wright was arrested on March 3rd after being found by Naval Criminal Investigative Services in base housing with a 17-year-old girl.

It was discovered that Wright, then on active duty in the Navy, had assisted the 17-year-old HIV positive girl in running away from her foster home in the Hampton Roads-area.

Wright then paid for backpage.com advertisements for escort services for the 17 year old in Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.

He was indicted May 8th on charges of sex trafficking of children; travel in furtherance of criminal activity; and concealment of evidence and faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison when he is sentenced on November 14, 2014 before United States Chief District Judge Rebecca Beach Smith.
