Coast Guard medevacs man from Pamlico Sound

The Coast Guard medevaced an 18-year-old man from a fishing boat in the Pamlico Sound on Monday night after he experienced a seizure and collapsed.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina in Wilmington were notified by radio from the 70-foot fishing boat Capt Ryan at around 11:20 p.m. Monday night.

A 25-foot response boat was launched from Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet and arrived on scene at approximately 12:30 p.m.

The man was transferred aboard their boat and taken to Hatteras Inlet, arriving at 1:30 a.m.

The man refused medical treatment from awaiting local EMS and was met by family members.
