A 48-year-old Virginia Beach man charged with trying to abduct an infant at gunpoint was asked not to curse in the courtroom during his arraignment on Tuesday.

Bryan Lowe was arraigned for the charge of attempted abduction in a Virginia Beach Juvenile and Domestic Relations courtroom. He was also arraigned in General District Court for the charge of use of a firearm in commission of a felony later that afternoon.

Referring to his wife, mother-in-law and ex-wife sitting in the front of the courtroom this morning, Lowe told the judge to let any one of the women he loves more than life choose who should represent him in the case.

Beach police say Lowe pulled out a gun Monday morning and threatened to take someone's infant baby who was in the back seat of a vehicle on Locksley Arch.

An attorney was present today at the request of Lowe's family.

At one point, that attorney kindly asked Lowe not to curse in the courtroom. Confusion about a future court date led Lowe to ask a question. Following the attorney's response, Lowe said something along the lines of "That's why I should just shut up and not say a d*mn word."

Attorneys with the Commonwealth requested that Lowe's charge in General District court be transferred to Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

A determination of counsel hearing has been scheduled for early August.

For now, Lowe is being held Virginia Beach City Jail without bond.

He has been charged with attempted abduction and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
