Woman charged with reckless driving after fatal crash with motorcycle in Newport News

Newport News, Va. – A woman has been charged with reckless driving after police say she ran the red light and hit a man on a motorcycle killing him.

The accident happened at 74th Street and Jefferson Avenue. Police received calls about the accident at 6:10 a.m.

Francis Henry Kroll, 54, was on 74th Street and made a left onto Jefferson. Sabrina Lolita Johnson, 58, was driving a 2003 white Pontiac Grand Am going northbound on Jefferson when police say she ran the red light at the intersection and slammed into Kroll.

They were both taken to the hospital.

Kroll was pronounced dead at the hospital at around 6:34 p.m.

Johnson was arrested and charged with reckless driving.
