Dog dies in Chesapeake house fire caused by lightning strike, four displaced
Chesapeake, Va. – As storms were moving through the area, Chesapeake crews were called out to a house fire in the Knells Ridge section of the city on Tuesday. Four people have been displaced and the family dog was killed in the fire.
This happened in the 1100 block of Waterstone Court.
Calls came in at 4:09 p.m. and crews were on the scene moments later.
The fire was under control at 4:29 p.m. Fire damage was contained to one room on the second floor, but the home also had smoke damage throughout.
Officials say the fire was caused by lightning.
