Now that the storm is over, Americans are gearing up for a busy holiday weekend.

Mike Powers had an active morning.  Now he's grabbing last minute sides for the holiday weekend.

"I had to pick up, as you can see, potato chips, got my milk, and cold cuts so I'm all set for the Fourth of July,” says Powers.

Michael Pennock was kicked out of Hattteras by Arthur.

Now he's spending what's left of his vacation in Chick's Beach looking for treasure as Arthur's clouds break up and its wind persists.

"You know, we got sidetracked from Hatteras, but other than that, you know Virginia Beach is just as nice,” says Pennock.

Bill Baber puts down flags on Pleasure House Road.

He's with the Chick's Beach Civic League and puts down 50 flags every year.

"I was up at 6 o'clock this morning, but it was a little rainy, little windy so we put it off until the sun broke out a little bit this afternoon and the rain went away,” says Baber.

Arthur did a bit more than just delaying him putting out the flags. Much of the Fourth of July traditions are getting pushed back 24 hours.

"It's all about celebrating our country; it doesn't make any difference whether it's on the 4th or the 5th, we're going to celebrate it,” says Baber.
