Dare Co. Sheriff’s make arrest in recent home break-in

The Dare Co. Sheriff’s Office has charged a man they believe is responsible for a breaking and entering that occurred in the Baum Bay subdivision on June 22nd.

The victim reported that several items had been stolen from the home.

Through interviews and investigation, a suspect was developed. It was then discovered that the suspect was in the Dare County Detention Center on unrelated charges.

After interviewing the suspect, who was identified as 23-year-old Jacob Michael Knieper, some of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the victim.

Knieper was charged with Breaking and Entering and Larceny after Breaking and Entering. He was committed to the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of an $8,000 bond.
