Virginia Beach, Va. – Police have charged a man after he struck several vehicles, including a police bike, at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

On June 21, 2014 at 12:35 a.m., a police officer in uniform riding a bicycle was handling an incident with a person in the 1800 block of Atlantic Avenue when a black Honda Accord struck the uniformed officer’s bicycle that was parked next to the curb.

The Honda Accord then left the scene, police say, turned onto 16th Street, traveled to Pacific Avenue through the light, struck one car, then struck a second car, which in turn struck another car.

The driver of the Honda Accord then attempted to run away from the scene, but was apprehended by bicycle officers.

There was no police vehicle pursuit.

The suspect is facing three counts of Felony Hit and Run; two counts of Misdemeanor Hit and Run; Failure to Yield Right of Way; Failure to Maintain Lane; and Driving on a Suspended Operator’s License.

The driver has been identified as 40-year-old Glenn P. Richardson of the 1100 block of Jackson Avenue, Bronx, New York.

Information on injuries is limited, police say, however, they believe there are some minor injuries.

The case remains under investigation.
