Funeral services were held for Norfolk Police Officer Brian Jones, who was killed in the line of duty last week.

Friends and family gathered at Rock Church at 11:00 a.m. for funeral services, which were followed by a procession to Forest Lawn Cemetery for an internment service.

Officer Jones was gunned down when James Andrew Brown III went on a shooting rampage last Friday night.

Police Departments, as well as Fire and EMS and citizens throughout the Tidewater area as well as some departments statewide and nationally were present during the services to pay respects to Officer Jones.

Remarks were given at the funeral service at the church by numerous people, including Officer's Jones' brother Daniel Jones, his former partner and best friend Daniel Chaney,  Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim, Norfolk Police Chief Michael Goldsmith, and Brian Moran, the Commonwealth of Virginia's Director of Public Safety and Homeland Security.

Officer Jones' valiant actions have touched those here in Hampton Roads and in his hometown of Livingston County, Kentucky.

Several of Officer Jones' longtime friends with the Kentucky State Police drove down for his viewing Wednesday night, along with hundreds of other attendees. The line wrapped around the funeral home.

“It means a lot when you look up and you see everybody here,” said Kentucky State Trooper Donald Crawford.

“It’s awesome to see such a good crowd of people here to honor a person that they didn't even know,” Kentucky State Police Sgt. Michael Williams says, “Knowing that he sacrificed and ultimate price it’s just an honor to have known him.”

Jones had been with the Norfolk Police Department for five years. He leaves behind his wife of 10 years and three young children. He was 34-years-old.

A memorial fund has been set up for his family. Click here to donate.
