The guided missile destroyer USS Ross has likely left Naval Station Norfolk for the final time.

The ship left Tuesday for its new home port in Rota, Spain as the second of four Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers to be forward deployed there.

Before heading there, she will make a stop in Yorktown.

The ship's commander says moving to a new home part is exciting, but challenging.

"You're moving the families, the children, that whole infrastructure is going with the sailor. So that's probably the most challenging part of it," says Commander Tadd Gorman.

The Ross has just 250 sailors aboard.
