Sexual assault report under investigation in Bethel Manor area

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 29-year-old woman claimed to have been sexually assaulted on early Saturday morning.

Authorities say the incident happened between 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Lightning Loop and Nighthawk Way in the Bethel Manor Langley Air Force Base housing area.

The woman said she was walking from the area of the 1st Street gate after being dropped off by a taxi when she was accosted and sexually assaulted by two unknown males.

The woman said she was approached from behind and could only provide minimal descriptions of the assailant.

The assailant is described as a medium to light skinned black or Hispanic male with a scar on his right hand from the knuckle of his index finger across the back of his hand.

The victim was treated and released from a local hospital following the assault.
