Man taken into custody after barricade situation in Ocean View

A man is in custody after barricading himself inside an Ocean View apartment for several hours on Tuesday morning.

Police say the call came in at 9:32 a.m. and the caller reported that an adult man with a weapon was inside a home in the 9500 block of 21st Bay Street in Ocean View.

A crisis negotiator was called to the scene for assistance with making contact with the man. He refused to leave the building, but finally finally cooperated after several hours.

The man was taken into custody around 11:30 a.m.

The man was believed to have psychiatric issues. Police are still trying to confirm whether the man made threats to anyone.

At this time, the man is not facing any charges but he is being held for a mental health evaluation.

    So the police were called because an adult had a gun in his home? Isn’t that legal? That whole ‘Right to Bear Arms’ thing?
    Is that only for the sane?
