Suffolk, Va. – Dominion Virginia Power is working on a blown transformer in the 100 block of North Main Street in downtown Suffolk.

The outage was reported  at approximately 5:34am and will extend along East Washington Street to Bank Street.  Dominion estimates  that approximately 40 customers will be without power for most of the day.

In order to repair the transformer, their crew will need to bring in a crane that will block southbound North Main Street in the downtown area.

The Shake, Rattle and Roll Car Show which has been scheduled downtown on North Main Street today from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. will continue as planned with only minor modifications as the location of certain activities will be shifted so that workers from Dominion Virginia Power have access between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and noon.
