Woman hit by car in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – A woman was hit by a car in Norfolk on Tuesday, according to Norfolk police.

The call came in at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Police and fire crews responded to the 5800 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd. in Norfolk, after a caller reported a motor vehicle accident with injuries involving a pedestrian.

Crews arrived on scene and found a woman who had been hit by a car. She was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what appears to be non life-threatening injuries, according to Officer Daniel Hudson with the Norfolk Police Department.

According to police, the vehicle had been traveling westbound on East Virginia Beach Blvd. The vehicle had a green light as the victim was standing in the median. The victim then walked out in front of the car and was hit, police say.

An off-duty police officer in his personal vehicle saw the accident.

No charges are being filed against the driver.
