Tornado Watch expired for Northeastern North Carolina

Update: The tornado watch has now expired.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch in effect until 9 p.m. this evening for the following counties:

Bertie, Chowan, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank; and Perquimans.

This includes the cities of: Ahoskie, Aulander, Edenton, Elizabeth City, Gatesville, Hertford, Lewiston, Woodville, Murfreesboro, Windsor and Winfall.

Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are also expected Wednesday and Wednesday night. Thunderstorms may also produce strong wind gusts and large hail Wednesday afternoon.
