Virginia Beach, Va. - A string of spring shootings have plagued Lake Edward.

The people who live in this Virginia Beach neighborhood are crying out for an end to the murders.

"What we're trying to do is cut down some of the violence that's in our neighborhood because we've had a spike of violence lately," said neighborhood activist Joyce Heath.

On the first weekend of April, two separate shootings hours apart took the lives of two men, another was injured. Those shootings were a week after another deadly shooting in the neighborhood.

Wednesday, Virginia Beach police's dive team was in the water searching for evidence, they haven't said if their search is connected with the any of those shootings.

"95 percent of the people that live in the Lake Edward community are good, working class people," Heath said.

Each step they took around the neighborhood was small, but they added up.
They hope these community events act in the same way and bring about an end to the shootings in Lake Edward.
