Buffalo, New York – Today, U.S. Marshals captured a man who was wanted for a quadruple murder in Virginia.

They captured Alexander Rosevelt Hill, Jr. who is accused of four counts of first-degree murder. He was located at a homeless shelter in Buffalo, New York on Thursday. He was using a fake name, Trent Dales, and had a fake ID. He refused to be fingerprinted, but once Marshals were able to get the prints, they determined that it was Hill.

Police say the murders happened over the weekend of Easter 2014 and Hill has been on the run for a whole year. Hill is accused of killing two family members  by assaulting them and then setting the house on fire which killed two others including a two-year-old child.

He left Petersburg after the murders. Officials say they believe he went to Roanoke Rapids by taxi on April 20th 2014. They say he then paid someone to drive him to the Amtrak station in Rocky Mount, NC.

“We are relieved at the capture of this dangerous fugitive close on the heels of the one-year anniversary of four tragic deaths. We weren’t giving up, no matter what,” said Robert Mathieson, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Virginia. “We hope this arrest will allow the family to begin healing from the pain of their tremendous losses.”
