Local Vietnam Veteran to receive Bronze Star after 50 years

bronzestarJOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. – After 50 years, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Harold T. Campbell will receive the Bronze Star Medal during a ceremony at the Transportation Museum on Thursday.

Rep. Robert Wittman will present Lt. Col. Campbell with the Bronze Star Medal for exceptionally meritorious service as the detachment commander in support of aerial combat operations, 140th Transportation Detachment (Cargo Helicopter Field Maintenance), 117 Aviation Company from August 15, 1963 to
May 1, 1964, while deployed in Vietnam.

The Bronze Star is awarded to Service members who have distinguished themselves in connection with military operations against an armed enemy.
