Norfolk, Va. – A program was held today aimed at empowering young men in the community.
About 45 young men between ten and eighteen took part in the E.M.B.O.D.I Program at First Baptist Church Berkley.
Embodi stands for empowering males to build opportunities for developing independence.
Some of the topics covered included interacting with law enforcement, money management and diversity.
The Chesapeake-Virginia Beach Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. organized the event.
“One of the things that is very near and dear to our heart is reaching back especially with our youth,” Theresa Baker, Chapter President, told NewsChannel 3. “We are so proud of these young men, they are not only smart young men, they are interested and they are very very focused on the information that we’re presenting them today.”
This is the fourth year they’ve held the conference for young men.
