The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man seen purposely running over a pit-bull puppy on Tuesday evening.

The Sheriff’s Office says a witness reported seeing a man traveling southbound on Hubbard Lane towards Penniman Road and stop near Hillside Lane.

He then lowered a very young pit-bull puppy onto the street from the vehicle. After putting the puppy on the street, he accelerated and ran the puppy over.

The puppy, estimated to be between 5-8 weeks old, died shortly afterwards.

The man is described as a black male, approximately 30-50 years old with short curly hair. The vehicle was a navy blue van or SUV with a very distinctive thick, white stripe around the entire vehicle. It may be an older boxy-type Chevrolet.

Deputies responded and checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect of the vehicle.
