Suffolk, Va. - The family of 42-year old Larry Evans says he hasn't been home in six days.

He lives with his niece. She told NewsChannel 3 he just never came home last Sunday night.

She's been taking care of him for years and says he's been diagnosed with schizophrenia and tends to disappear when he's not on his medicine.

“This is normal for him when he's off his medication but I did file a police report to be on the safe side," Tonya Bass, Evans’ niece, said.

She's not too worried because she says since she filed the report yesterday people have said they've seen Evans around.

Police say he's often seen at businesses in downtown Suffolk, not far from his home.

NewsChannel 3 spoke to businesses, most have seen Evans around but not recently.

According to police, if you come in contact with Evans don't approach him instead dial 911.

His niece says because of his schizophrenia he can seem dangerous but she doesn't believe he would hurt anyone.

“He yells because he is talking to himself and people might think he's violent but he's not he's just a big old teddy bear," Bass shares. ”He's just out there wandering and doesn't want him to be found at the moment but hopefully he'll come home."
