Norfolk, Va. – A 35-year-old Norfolk man will have to spend more time behind bars after he was convicted by a federal jury on Thursday.

Lawrence Leo Hawkins was convicted of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Hawkins was indicted back in December of 2012. Officials say a stolen cellphone actually led them to the home where they found cocaine, heroin, guns, grinders and other materials.

They say the cellphone was stolen by Hawkins’ girlfriend’s son who also lived at the home.

He faces life in prison. He’ll be sentenced in July.
