Norfolk, Va. – The Norfolk-based USS Cole and USS Oak Hill will be among the three Navy ships and two Coast Guard cutters participating in Fleet Week New York from May 21-27.
Joining the Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship Oak Hill and Arleigh Burke-class Cole will be the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg from Mayport, Fla.
Coast Guard cutters Katherine Walker “Keeper of New York Harbor” and Campbell will also participate.
In addition to public visitation of participating ships and military band concerts, there will be numerous exhibits and military demonstrations throughout the week.
Fleet Week New York, now in its 26th year, is the city’s time-honored celebration of the sea services. The week-long celebration has been held nearly every year since 1984. It is anticipated that nearly 1,500 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen will participate.
