Tornado Warning issued for Dare County now canceled

UPDATE: The tornado warning issued for Dare County has now been canceled. 

A Tornado warning has been issued for Dare County.

This includes Midland Dare County in Eastern NC and Tyrrell County in Eastern North Carolina.

This warning is in effect until 5:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service says the tornado could be near Buffalo City, center of Dare County Range and 6 miles southeast of East Lake by 5:10 p.m.

According to WCNT.com, eyewitnesses say a tornado touched down near Belhaven. One person says he and his son were driving and the truck was picked up and thrown into a field. The two were taken to the hospital but are expected to be okay.
