NEW ORLEANS – A video that has gone viral has a Jefferson Parish deputy in New Orleans in hot water over how he arrested a man.

The video was recorded by cellphone and was uploaded to YouTube.

In it, the officer can be heard saying, “I’m not answering to you, you’re answering to me.”

WGNO in New Orleans reportsDon Rell Breaux says he was with friends on Sunday afternoon.

“I guess the neighbor didn’t like our, the vulgarity or the profanity that was probably used within the conversation,” he told the station.

That led to an exchange and a call to 911.

“Next thing come out of his mouth is don’t worry about it, I have five units on the way.”

The deputy, identified by the station as Wesley West, had been seen by Breaux before at his neighbor’s home. A Levee Patrol Officer then arrived and Breaux says he has been seen at the neighbor’s home too.

In the video, Breaux can be heard saying, “Why is you doing this? Do not shoot me, please.”

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said through a spokesman the deputy smelled marijuana, asked for Breaux’s identification and then made an arrest.

Breaux has been charged with disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and battery on a police officer.
