Norfolk, Va. – A memorial service honoring Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Mark A. Mayo will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Naval Station Norfolk.
Yesterday family and friends gathered in his hometown of Hagerstown to remember the sailor who gave his life to save another.
A Hagerstown, Md. native, Mayo enlisted in the Navy in Oct. 2007 and reported to Naval Station Norfolk in May 2011.
Due to limited seating, the memorial service will not be open to the general public.
