Update: Man who escaped Chesapeake police after chase identified

Update: Police have identified the driver as 32-year-old Troy Chapman of Norfolk. Chapman is now wanted on warrants for Felony Eluding, three counts of Hit & Run and Excessive Tint.  If anyone has information about Troy Chapman they are encouraged to contact the police department or the Chesapeake Crime Line.  

Chesapeake, Va. – Police in Chesapeake are searching for a suspect after they say the person led them on a chase on Tuesday evening.

At around 5:13 p.m., police tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle at Obendorfer Road and Mahone Avenue for excessive tint.

The vehicle stopped at Mahone Avenue and Appomattox Street in Norfolk.

When the officer got out of the car, the vehicle took off and police followed.

The driver lost control of the car and hit three parked cars in the 200 block of Hardy Avenue.

Three people took off from the vehicle and police were able to capture two of them. They were not charged. The driver is still on the loose.

Once the driver is identified, he will face felony eluding, hit and run and excessive tint.

No one was injured.
