Virginia Beach, Va. – Right now, thousands of citizens in Virginia Beach are without power due to a bad cable. About 3,100 customers are affected.

Bonita Harris with Virginia Dominion Power says the outage happened at 9:18 p.m. on Thursday night in the Regency/Hilltop area.

They say most of the customers are businesses near the 1800 block of Laskin Road.

They say many of these customers are expected to have their lights back on by 11 p.m. Some will have power restored by midnight.

Crews are on the way to make the repairs. They are working to reroute power for the majority to fix it.

Crews are not sure yet what caused the cable to go bad.
