Chesapeake, Va. - A local attorney is taking action with NewsChannel 3 to help Chesapeake residents get new mailboxes.

Attorney Mike Goodove believes their property manager, who refuses to replace the mailboxes, is in breach of the lease agreement.

After NewsChannel 3 contacted Goodove, he felt compelled to get involved.

We sent him a copy of the lease agreement renters say they signed which states "management will provide and assign mailboxes to all residents."

Today, he'll be meeting with some of the residents of Sturbridge Village who have been driving to their local post office miles away to pick up their mail for nearly 15 months.

An unknown driver took out their cluster mailbox unit in December of 2012.

Since then, Virginia Beach based ARCAP which manages the property, says it's the post office’s responsibility.

The company's director of operations also claims that area of the trailer park is considered a subdivision.

Since some residents affected own their lot, he says it creates legal complications for them.

Goodove plans to draft a letter to the company's attorney this evening following his meeting with the residents.
