Portsmouth, Va. – Check your tickets! Someone bought a $1 million Powerball ticket for Wednesday night’s drawing at Barber Tire & Auto on Portsmouth Blvd. in Portsmouth.

The winning numbers for the March 12 Powerball drawing were 14-15-28-37-54, and the Powerball number was 10. This ticket matched the first five numbers and missed only the Powerball number.

Whoever has the ticket has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize. The Virginia Lottery advises that before doing anything else, the winner should immediately sign the back of the ticket to establish ownership. When the person is ready to claim the million-dollar prize, he or she should contact the Virginia Lottery at 804-692-7777 or 757-825-7800.

This is the second $1 million Powerball winner in Virginia so far this month. Last week, a ticket bought in Springfield matched the first five numbers to win $1 million. That winner has not yet come forward.

In the past 13 months, Powerball players in the state have won 12 $1 million prizes, a $2 million prize and a $217 million jackpot.

There was no jackpot winner in last night’s drawing, and this was the only ticket in the nation to win the second prize by matching the first five numbers.

Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
