Two women wanted for stealing woman’s wallet, using stolen credit cards in Newport News

Newport News, Va. – Two women are wanted in Newport News for stealing a woman’s wallet and using the stolen credit cards to purchase several thousand dollars in merchandise, police tell NewsChannel 3.

On February 3, 2014 between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 PM, a 68-year-old Newport News woman was shopping at Trader Joe’s in Newport News when she was approached by a middle aged African American woman who engaged the victim in conversation about ingredients in some food item. Police say when the conversation ended, the victim went to pay for her items and her wallet was gone.

Two unknown women used the victim’s credit cards at Best Buy at about 4:00 p.m. and at Target at 4:17 p.m., police say. Both stores are in the 12000 block of Jefferson Avenue. The unknown pair purchased several thousand dollars worth of merchandise at each location. Security video shows the two women using the cards and exiting the Target store.
