Yorktown, Va. – A man has died as the result of a vehicle collision in Yorktown, police tell NewsChannel 3.

On Monday, March 10, 2014 at 10:04 p.m., Virginia State Police was called by the York County Sheriff’s office to a two vehicle accident at the 1500 block of Wolf Trap Road.

A state trooper arrived and discovered that two vehicles collided head on. One of the drivers was ejected and the other driver was suffering from minor injuries. Both drivers were immediately transported to Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Virginia.

During the investigation it was discovered that a 2003 Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound on Wolf Trap Road, when the driver, 20-year-old Christopher Crawford of Seaford, lost control, traveled into the southbound lane, and into the path of a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The driver of the Toyota, a 17-year-old male, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Riverside Hospital.

Crawford was ejected from his vehicle and suffered life threatening injuries.

Crawford later had succumbed from the injuries sustained at Riverside Hospital. Notification to family members has been made, police say.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Crawford was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the incident. Alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the crash.
