CALGARY, Canada — A 17-year veteran pilot felt prompted to respond to an unexpected note from a passenger on flight from Calgary to Victoria.

The full note refers to Proverbs 31, and the passenger’s desire to be told when there is a female pilot so he can take another plane.

The full note refers to Proverbs 31, and the passenger’s desire to be told when there is a female pilot so he can take another plane.

According to the Toronto Sun, Capt. Carey Steacy of WestJet received a sexist note on a napkin signed “David in 12E,” that stated “the cockpit of an airline is no place for a woman.”

David continued, “I wish WestJet could tell me a fair lady is at the helm so I can book another flight!”

With an ample amount of flying experience under her belt, the mother of two took to Facebook to fire back at David in 12E.

“I have heard many comments from people throughout my 17-year career as a pilot. Most of them positive. Your note is, without a doubt, the funniest,” she wrote. “You were more than welcome to deplane when you heard I was a ‘fair lady’…We all, us humans, have the same rights in this great free country of ours. Now, back to my most important role, being a mother.”

On Tuesday, a WestJet official said the airline is disappointed by David’s note and values all of its pilots, no matter gender.
