Virginia Beach, Va. - There was a much different vibe from the crowd at today’s meeting in Virginia Beach than a week ago.

On Thursday afternoon, people were pleased overall with what officers had to say, as they again stressed that it’s a group effort between business owners and police to keep the Oceanfront safe.

Communication—it’s the message police stressed to hotel and motel owners at a meeting to help prevent violence at the Oceanfront.

It’s the same exact message they tried to convey a week ago to a much different crowd.

Today the crowd’s response was overwhelmingly positive.

The meetings come almost a year after a violent Beach Week at the Oceanfront when thousands of young people stormed the strip.

Now Virginia Beach top police officials are being proactive with public meetings in the hopes that the rowdy weekend won’t happen again.

Police gave tips to hotels on how to stay safe like regulate wrist bands, be clear about rules to guests and have working security cameras.

At the same meeting last week, some business owners were angry with police saying they weren’t doing enough, but today it was a much more accepting crowd.
