Everybody does it. You lean in close to a friend, pose and snap a selfie.

Selfies are so popular, the word has even been added to the Oxford Dictionary and it was voted word of the year.

But there's a problem.

Some lice experts in California say selfies have led to an uptick of lice breakouts!

Leaders of lice removal services say that lice infestations have easily spread because of the consistent hair contact.

The company Nitless Noggins and others claim they've seen a huge increase of lice in teens and younger adults, recently.

The business points out that every day people are putting their heads together to take cell phone pics.

A supervisor at lice control in Oakland, California told CNET that the claim makes a lot of sense, but they can't conclusively attribute the entire problem to selfies.
