Chesapeake, Va. - Two Navy personnel conducting a pre-planned skydive training exercise drifted into trees on Tuesday morning near Naval Auxiliary Landing Field Fentress, according to Kelley Stirling, the Public Affairs Officer at Naval Station Oceana.
Stirling says the two were part of a group that was training together. Several landed in the wooded area but only two were stuck in the trees.
NewsChannel 3's cameras were rolling as crews scaled the tall trees to help free the trapped parachutists.
It took tactical teams more than an hour to get the first sailor who was out of the trees by noon. The other sailor was up in the air more than two hours. He was free just before 1 p.m.
Both walked away unharmed.
