Williamsburg, Va. - This is Taylor Frenia – and on most afternoons, this is where you would find the sophomore - at practice, throwing the “rock”.

If you think this is easy, try picking up a sixteen pound bowling ball and then heave it 19 yards.

That’s what Taylor has done at his last meet at UVA. Taylor threw a personal best: 57 feet.

"Going for it" is all Taylor knows how to do – when he was at Kempsville High School, the former Chief won three state titles in the shot put – he was so good, he was considered one of the best in the country. He was King of the Hill.

That role has changed in college, and he is looking to get back to the top of the mountain.

"I like being on the bottom - it gives me motivation to get back on top."

"Taylor is one of those kids you want on the team. He needs to remember you are always trying to best your best score. He needs to stay focused on that. And the same goes for Brian," says Coach Dan Stimson.

Coach is talking about Brian Waterfield, Taylor's teammate. The Great Bridge Wildcat alum and Taylor work out together – something they have done for the past four years. They bring out the best in each other.

Is going to the college a little easier for Taylor as an athlete?

"I got the best of both worlds. A great coach, great teammates and I'm getting an Ivy Leaugue education."

The goal this year is to get to 58 feet, and by the time he is a senior, the mid sixties. And then hopefully an invitation to the Olympic trials.
