Virginia Beach, Va. – Sailors and Navy Divers with Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 2 were honored today for their work salvaging a MH-53E helicopter that went down last month.

They searched the wreckage of the Sea Dragon and recovered the remains of a missing pilot. Two others also died in the crash.

Adm. Bill Gortney, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, presented 19 Sailors with the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for their work.

They were also congratulated for salvaging a downed U.S. Air Force F-16C Falcon off the coast of Virginia and searching for an MQ-9 Reaper in Lake Ontario.

“Thanks for helping us find the ‘what happened’ on the helicopter, and from the family: ‘thanks for bringing him home,'” said Gortney.
