Former student accused of making threats against Virginia Wesleyan College through social media

Virginia Beach, Va. – Officials are searching for a former student at Virginia Wesleyan College who is accused of making threats against the school on social media Monday.

Leona E. Baker, the Director of Communications for VWC, says a message was sent out to the campus community earlier.

She says they found out about the threat this morning and quickly notified students, faculty and staff about it.

She also says that they are working with the Virginia Beach Police Department in this case.

The email that was sent out to the campus community is below:

Dear Campus Community:

This message is to notify you of a direct threat to our campus. This threat was made by a former Virginia Wesleyan College student, Aaron Robinson, via social media.

VWC Campus Security is working in cooperation with the Virginia Beach Police Department on this matter.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to be acutely aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to Security immediately at 757.233.8888.

Please be aware that there will be increased patrols on campus by Campus Security and the Virginia Beach Police and that the authorities are now actively searching for this individual. At this time, we have no indication that he is currently in our area.
