Virginia Beach, Va. (WTKR) - The City of Virginia Beach is getting ready for what could be another round of snow this week.

On Monday, city trucks and plows were being hosed down and checked out at the operations complex on Dam Neck Road.

"Go over all the mechanics. Make sure everything is working. Make sure the blades that need to be replaced are replaced. The lighting and all works on the trucks," explained Highways Superintendent Jim Huntington.

Virginia Beach crews were also busy working up another batch of abrasive.

An estimated 2,000 tons of the sand and salt mix was spread on the roads during last week's snow and ice event.

"Most of our primaries had to be done repeatedly last time," Huntington commented. "These temperatures that they are projecting to be low Tuesday and Wednesday going into Thursday means that we will be doing about the same type of set-up."

With this storm projected to track in from North Carolina, crews will be able to adjust should southern portions of Virginia Beach be more heavily impacted.

"What will happen is if we are hit heavier there than say we are in the Shore Drive area and Northern part of the city, then we will probably divert a few vehicles, plows, spreaders, to assist them," Huntington explained.
