Camden County, NC -Sixteen-year-old Clay Powell has had a lot of spare time to strum on his guitar. A sophomore at CamTech High School in Camden County, he's had the whole week off from classes. Monday and Tuesday were school holidays.

"And then they canceled school on Wednesday, and then again Thursday, and then again on Friday," he says.

It was three snow days in a row for Camden County school students, so now students will have to go to school on Saturday to make up one of those days. It’s not quite music to everyone's ears.

"I’m not expecting a lot of people to show up,” Clay says. “I'm really not."

"I have talked to a lot of folks who have kids that already have extracurricular activities," says Clay’s mom, Debbie Powell.

However, Clay doesn't seem to mind.

"I’m actually looking forward to getting back so I can have something to do and not be bored all the time," he says.

Boredom isn't the only reason he wants to go; Clay hasn't missed a day of school since the fifth grade, a streak the sophomore doesn't plan to break.

"I don't know if they'll be counting attendance tomorrow,” he says. “That's another reason. I'm just going just to be sure. "

The second make-up day for students will be March 7th, but as for the third snow day, school officials aren't sure when that will be.

"I kind of would like to see it taken care of instead of dipping into spring break," Debbie Powell says.

Saturday's classes will start one hour late because of the icy roads and will end at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
