James City County, Va. – A teen has been charged after crashing his vehicle into a home in James City County, police tell NewsChannel 3.
At 1:30 p.m., on Friday, January 10, James City County Police responded to a report of a car crashing into a house in the 9200 block of Diascund Road.
Police say 18-year-old Caston Montgomery Brown of James City County was driving a 2007 Ford Taurus north on Diascund Road toward Richmond Road when he reportedly dropped his cell phone. He looked down to locate it, causing the car to veer across the oncoming lane and leave the roadway. The vehicle then traveled across the yard approximately 250 feet, striking a fence and attached garage to a residence next door.
Brown was not injured.
Brown has been charged with reckless driving and driving without a license. His passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was transported by ambulance to Williamsburg Sentara Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
There were occupants inside of the home at the time of the crash, but they were not aware of the crash nor were they injured.
The 16-year-old was treated and released.
Brown was released on a summons for his charge.
